LNU-MSU CIB Advisement
Advisement Office
Understanding graduation requirements and what classes are prerequisites of other classes can quickly become overwhelming or confusing. The advisement office exists to inform students on making wise decisions concerning offered courses to ensure that graduation requirements are met. Dropping a course or failing to take a course as outlined could lead to a delay in graduation by a semester or two.
For advisement on planning course schedules, understanding the rules and prerequisites of graduation, or transitioning to COB in the third year, make an appointment with the advisement office. To schedule an appointment, stop by the advisement office in room 104 with Lori Gong (LoriGong@MissouriState.edu). If you have any questions about what courses you should be taking in order to graduate on time, please schedule an appointment with the advisement office.

The student is responsible for having the appropriate prerequisites prior to enrollment in a course. Prerequisites are indicated in the University Catalog and the web class schedule and will be enforced at the time of registration. If any academic department determines that a student does not have the appropriate prerequisites for a course, registration for the course may be cancelled either prior to or after classes begin. Any questions concerning the prerequisites should be answered by consulting the current catalog or by contacting the academic department offering the course.

What is it?
The Associate of Arts (AA) in General Studies degree is specifically designed to transfer to other colleges and Universities. It contains a curriculum of basic first-and second-year courses which fulfill the general education requirements of most four-year institutions. The result is a well-rounded education that prepares students for the demands of the upper level courses they will take at their next school.
How does it transfer?
The AA in General Studies degree transfers as a block to four year public colleges and Universities in the state of Missouri. This degree is structured for entry into baccalaureate degree programs offered at four-year colleges or Universities. As a result, students with the AA will go into four-year public institutions with junior standing and with virtually all of their freshman and sophomore general education requirements completed.
Why should I get an AA degree?
As pointed out above, having the degree ensures transferability of college credit hours at the freshman and sophomore level. The AA degree also is "locked in", which means the credits will transfer as a block into a baccalaureate degree program, even several semesters after the AA degree’s completion.

Upon completion of the AA degree, students have the option of applying to the Missouri State College of Business (COB) provided that all admission requirements are met.
