Chinese In-Plan vs Out-Plan Students
Here at LNU-MSU, we have two types of Chinese students, in-plan and out-plan students. The main difference between the two is whether or not the individual is a student of both Liaoning Normal University and Missouri State University (in-plan) or if the individual is a student of Missouri State University only (out-plan). Students who have dual enrollment in both schools have slightly different requirements for admission than those enrolled only with MSU. Most Chinese students enrolled at LNU-MSU are in-plan students.
Eligibility for Chinese In-Plan Students
Because Chinese in-plan students are students of Liaoning Normal University, the English proficiency requirements are based on the Chinese National College Entrance Exam. These student must have attained a minimum score of 100 on the English portion of the National College Entrance Exam as well as having met all of the other necessary requirements on the National College Entrance Exam to be accepted as students to study at Liaoning Normal University.
Eligibility for Chinese Out-Plan Chinese students
Because out-plan Chinese students have not applied through Liaoning Normal University, these individuals are not students of Liaoning Normal University. Rather, they are students of Missouri State University only. Because of this, Chinese out-plan students must demonstrate proof of their English proficiency in the same way International students would by presenting a diploma with a qualifying TOEFL or IELTS score. In addition, Chinese students who have not taken the TOEFL or IELTS may also present a diploma and take an English proficiency test upon arrival at LNU-MSU. Students who attended and graduated from a high school in an English-speaking country or the Dalian Maple Leaf School are not required to take any English test.
Eligibility for International Students (including Hong Kong, Taiwan, & Macao)
International students studying at LNU-MSU are considered only to be students of Missouri State University. International students do not take the Chinese National College Entrance Exam and must therefore present some other form of proof of English proficiency. International students must therefore have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and proof of English proficiency. For students whose first language is not English, a TOEFL score of iBT70 or an IELTS score of 6.0 is sufficient proof of English proficiency.
